Software Engineering Solutions Based on a Rigorous Methodology


5-D Systems possess the expertise necessary to develop a variety of military software solutions for desktop systems, server systems, and embedded systems. Some examples of the types of software we have developed in the past for both airborne and ground-based environments include the following:

5-D Systems can also provide these software capabilities as a service to directly support a customer’s needs. In this role, 5-D Systems’ personnel function as staff extension, working alongside a customer’s existing software development team.


Our software developers employ a variety of commercially available development tools and frameworks to support our solution and service-based software development. Some of the tools we have used and/or continue to use include: Matlab, Simulink, National Instruments (NI) LabWindows/CVI, NI LabView, Freescale CodeWarrior, KEIL μVision, and Microsoft Visual Studio. We’ve used these tools to develop and deploy software to systems running a variety of operating systems including Windows, Linux, and MQX Real-Time Operating System as well as bare-metal (i.e. those without a third-party operating system) embedded systems.


Our systems and software development process meets or exceeds the requirements for CMMI Capability Level III. In 2013, 5-D Systems confirmed our commitment to developing quality products by subjecting this development process to and successfully passing an independent SCAMPI A assessment of our process. 5-D continues to maintain this commitment by re-subjecting our process to independent SCAMPI A assessment periodically. Our team of developers is also experienced with developing software under numerous government and commercial software development standards (DO-178B, MIL STD 2167/A, MIL STD 2168, MIL STD 498, IEEE STD 12207).
